Honoring Gryphon Place, a longtime stigma-free presence in our community

Since 1970, Gryphon Place has been serving our community as the place where people turn when they need help. They were one of the very first organizations to pledge to #BeStigmaFree, so the #LookBeyond team was especially fired up to recognize their commitment!

Earlier this month, the agency's Community Engagement team and Human Resources Director Lisa Harden accepted our award (left to right in photo below: Lisa Harden, Brittany Cekola Hamann, Jennifer VanOosterhout and Megan Scott), while our owl mascot joined in a group photo, above.

Gryphon Place provides information and referral services to get people connected to community resources, whether for assistance with food or paying heating bills, mediating conflicts, fighting drug addictions or other issues. A community resource advisor is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by dialing 2-1-1. The organization has always served people with respect and fairness – and we're thrilled to give them special recognition for being stigma-free!

Gryphon Place joins a growing list of organizations who have pledged to #BeStigmaFree, including Kalamazoo Community Foundation, ASK Family Services, Recovery Institute of Southwest Michigan and OptiMed Pharmacy.

We love to recognize pledged organizations (businesses, schools, nonprofits, providers, faith communities and more) with a #LookBeyond award, t-shirts, “Proud to #BeStigmaFree” signs, decals, a photo shoot with our owl mascot, a media alert and more. It’s FREE. Learn How to Become a Stigma-Free Zone!
